Inside Line Promotions – OWASSO, Okla. (March 12, 2019) – The 2018 season was a career best for Seth Bergman, who came the closest he ever has to securing his first-ever Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour championship.
Bergman finished second in the championship standings, marking the best result of his career and the eighth straight season with a top-10 finish in the ASCS National Tour standings. He also posted 10 feature victories, including four with the ASCS National Tour. That also tied his most in a single season.
That taste of success has driven Bergman throughout the offseason as he has prepared for another run at the title in 2019. It begins this Friday and Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, during the 46th annual ASCS Spring Nationals.
“I feel like I’m more prepared than I was last year,” he said. “I took some things I didn’t like last year and applied it to try to get better. We’ve done thorough preparation. Typically I’d race the week or two before the ASCS opener, but we chose to take more time to prepare the right way to show up to Devil’s Bowl.
“I had too many DNFs last year. As a driver I was ready to race and ready to win. I’ve worked hard in my department. We’re working hard to make sure the car stays together and we can finish races.”
Bergman, who recorded a top-10 finish during five races in Florida in February, has a stellar track record at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. He’s recorded at least one top-five result at the oval during five of the last six seasons and he’s earned at least one top 10 every year since 2012. In fact, he has one win, 10 top fives and 14 top 10s in 19 races there dating back to 2013.
“I’m going into it with a positive outlook,” he said. “We’ll focus on doing our job and everything else will take care of itself.”
