Inside Line Promotions – SAPULPA, Okla. (Oct. 30, 2018) – Seth Bergman capped his career-best season on the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com by scoring a podium finish last Saturday during the John Christner Trucking Fall Fling at Creek County Speedway.
Bergman recorded a podium finish to give him 16 top fives this season with the series – tied for his most ever in a single season – en route to his career-best runner-up result in the championship standings.
Following Friday’s rainout, the event concluded on Saturday with Bergman maneuvering from sixth to third place in a heat race. He then finished where he started – second – in a qualifier to rank sixth in overall points. That lined him up on the outside of the third row for the main event.
“There were like 60 cars there so I felt pretty good about it,” he said. “I got to third and about halfway through I was racing for the lead and had a chance to win. Then we had a caution. The way the race played out I didn’t have another chance to win.”
Bergman’s third-place result marked his eighth podium of the season with the ASCS National Tour.
“We’ve had a good level of speed all year and going into the final night we ended with a good result,” he said. “We were faced with a lot of pressure at times this year and we were in a good pressure situation this weekend with Wayne (Johnson) being so close (for second in the standings). I was glad how we did under pressure.
“It’s definitely puts us on a higher platform to build off. Every year I learn. We take what we like and push forward into the next year. As I get older and the team is around longer there’s more distinct things I see that needs to be fixed. I don’t have a huge budget so over the last few years we’ve fixed things here and there and we do our best. I feel like next year we’ll be as good as we’ve ever been and we’ll have a shot at the title.”
