Inside Line Promotions – WHEATLAND, Mo. (Sept. 27, 2018) – Seth Bergman improved throughout the three nights of the 8th annual Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial last weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway.

Bergman drew a deep starting position for Thursday’s opening round of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com event. He advanced from ninth to sixth place, but a ninth-place result in a qualifier relegated him to the seventh starting spot in a B Main. He finished in that position and was forced to use a provisional to start near the back of the main event.

“We were buried by the pill draw early and then the track was one lane later in the night so it was just a bad set of circumstances,” he said. “You don’t get points when you use an ASCS provisional so we just started the race to get the start money and pulled in to save our equipment.”

Bergman rebounded on Friday as he won a heat race and advanced a position to finish fifth in a qualifier. That locked him into the 11th starting position in the main event and he gained a handful of positions to post a seventh-place finish.

“We moved forward every time we were on the track so that was a positive,” he said. “We really needed a solid night after how Thursday went so it was good to get through everything without trouble.”

The weekend concluded on Saturday with Bergman winning a last chance qualifier to garner the 12th starting position in the A Main.

“We had a good car all night,” he said. “I felt like we got stronger as the feature went on. We were able to make up a lot of ground and gain a lot of positions during the second half of the race. It was good to end the weekend with a top five.”

Bergman’s fourth-place finish was his 28th top five of the season.

The next ASCS National Tour event is Oct. 19-20 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas.
