Inside Line Promotions – WAGNER, S.D. (Sept. 11, 2018) – Seth Bergman captured his 16th podium finish of the season last Saturday when he made his debut at Wagner Speedway during a Midwest Sprint Touring Series show.

Bergman placed second in a heat race before lining up on the inside of the second row for the main event.

“I ran third early and I slid for second around Lap 5,” he said. “We ran down the leader, but the track got to where it was right around the bottom. I tried to make a pass for the lead on the outside. There wasn’t anything up there so I just got back in line. I was good, but it got to where you couldn’t leave the bottom.”

Bergman’s second-place result marked his fifth runner-up finish of the year.

He is scheduled to compete this Saturday at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., with the ASCS Mid-South Region and ASCS Red River Region. It will mark his final opportunity to race at the bullring before the famed Short Track Nationals next month.

“It’s an opportunity to test,” he said. “We don’t vary too far off our setup to try to improve on a package that’s solid. It’s not very often we try to rewrite the playbook. We have a lot of good knowledge throughout the years and a good baseline. We might try a few subtle things. We go there with what we’d go there to race for the $10,000 to see if it’s close.”

Bergman is looking for his first career triumph at the quarter-mile oval.

“I think I’ve finished second there and I’ve had quite a few top fives,” he said. “I thought I was going to win the ASCS National Tour race there earlier this year. I got a run off the top and crossed someone up when we made contact going into turn three. I’ve run well there, just never sealed the deal.”

Bergman, who ranks second in the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com championship standings, returns to ASCS National Tour competition Sept. 20-22 at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., during the 8th annual Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial.
