Inside Line Promotions – MESQUITE, Texas (Oct. 24, 2017) – Seth Bergman produced a top-five finish during the opening round of the 44th annual Winter Nationals last Friday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway.

The Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event began with Bergman maneuvering from third to win a heat race. That earned a spot into the feature redraw, in which he pulled the second-highest number – seven – to start the A Main on the inside of the fourth row.

“We had a good start and spent most of the race battling for the fourth lock-in position to Saturday,” he said. “I was able to get to fourth a couple of times. Me and Matt Covington had a great race for it early and then Blake Hahn came on strong at the end and got fourth in traffic.”

Bergman finished fifth, which was his 27th top five of the season and his 13th with the ASCS National Tour.

He returned to Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Saturday for the event finale. The action opened with Bergman placing fifth in a heat race. That relegated him to the B Main, in which he powered from seventh to third place to earn a transfer into the back of the A Main.

“Passing was more difficult on Saturday,” he said. “We were able to gain a few positions in the main event, but it’s tough to overcome putting yourself in the middle of a B Main like we did.”

Bergman passed the second-most cars as he rallied from 19th to 14th in the main event.

He is scheduled to be off the next couple of weeks before resuming competition on Nov. 9-11 at Cocopah Speedway in Somerton, Ariz., with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
