Inside Line Promotions – ALGER, Wash. (June 28, 2017) – Seth Bergman earned his third straight top-10 finish during the famed Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup last Saturday at Skagit Speedway, where Bergman placed eighth during the finale for the 46th edition of the event.

Bergman kicked off the three-day Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event on Thursday by winning a heat race after starting on the outside of the front row. He then advanced from fifth to third place in a qualifier, which ranked him second in overall points. That lined him up on the outside of the front row for the main event.

“We got a good start and took the lead going into turn one,” he said. “We led the first half of the race before traffic got pretty thick.”

Bergman led the first 14 laps of the 25-lap A Main before he was passed in traffic. He stayed within striking distance for the remainder of the race before finishing second by less than one second.

Round 2 didn’t fare as well for Bergman, who charged from eighth to fourth place in a heat race before he ended fourth in a qualifier. That lined him up on the outside of the sixth row for the main event. Unfortunately, he was caught up in a crash that resulted in a 21st-place result.

“That dropped us to eighth in overall points,” he said. “We were locked into Saturday’s main event, but with the way the track was we needed to be starting a couple of rows further up to be a contender.”

Bergman finished where he started – eighth – in the main event. It was his ninth top 10 of the season with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

He enters this weekend’s Fred Brownfield Classic at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Wash., ranked sixth in the championship standings.

“I’m really excited about the Fred Brownfield Classic,” he said. “Fred was a visionary for sprint car racing. He helped the Northwest grow and he did great things at Grays Harbor Raceway.”
