Inside Line Promotions – AMARILLO, Texas (June 12, 2017) – Seth Bergman scored his fourth top five of the season with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour during Round 2 of the Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek last Saturday at Route 66 Motor Speedway.

Bergman kicked off the event, which marked his second time at the track, by winning a heat race from the pole. That advanced him into the feature redraw, in which he pulled the No. 4 to start the main event on the outside of the second row.

“At the start of the race the outside front row didn’t take off,” he said. “I smashed into the back of the car in front of me. I got freight-trained and by the time I was in turn one I was in eighth place. Two laps later the track took rubber. Circumstances didn’t play out in our favor.”

Bergman rebounded from the opening-lap melee to earn a sixth-place result.
It was a strong finish coming off a frustrating performance the previous night, when Bergman opened the Speedweek by making his debut at West Texas Raceway in Lubbock, Texas. He finished fifth in a heat race before ending 12th in the main event.

“I wasn’t good all night,” he said. “The track was fast and pretty narrow for three quarters of the night. We weren’t good enough to move around on a narrow surface. We just didn’t have a good night.”

Speedweek continues on Tuesday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, before shifting to Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla., on Wednesday. Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla., hosts a race on Thursday with Bergman making his debut at Randolph County Raceway in Moberly, Mo., on Friday. Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., is the site for the Speedweek finale on Saturday.

“I just need to focus on having good nights and focus on trying to get as much speed out of the car,” he said. “I feel like if we get it close I can do my job.”

Bergman has won at Devil’s Bowl Speedway and Creek County Speedway. He’s also recorded podium finishes at Lawton Speedway and Lucas Oil Speedway.

He enters this week’s races ranked 12th in the Speedweek standings – only 36 points out of the lead.
