Inside Line Promotions – ELMA, Wash. (July 7, 2016) – Seth Bergman set himself up perfectly for an opportunity to win the Fred Brownfield Classic last Saturday at Grays Harbor Raceway.
Bergman kicked off the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour doubleheader on Friday by charging from sixth to third place in a heat race. He then maneuvered from ninth and used a last-lap pass to score a fourth-place finish in the main event.
That earned the final lock-in position into Saturday’s feature redraw, where he pulled the No. 2 to start on the outside of the front row for the main event. Unfortunately, a mechanical problem kept the team from taking the green flag.
“That was a huge bummer to be in such a good position to win a prestigious race and then not be able to start the race,” he said. “We worked hard on Friday to set ourselves up to be in contention on Saturday, but it wasn’t meant to be.”
Bergman’s attention has now shifted to a two-day event at Gallatin Speedway in Belgrade, Mont., this Friday and Saturday with the ASCS National Tour. He scored a 10th-place result during his lone visit to the track in August 2008.
“I always love going to Montana,” he said. “The scenery is beautiful and they’ve got a great fan base. I’m looking forward to the next two weeks.”
Bergman will stay in Montana the following week to compete in the opening doubleheader for the NSA Shootout on July 15-16 at Billings Motorsports Park in Billings, where the finale pays $7,500 to win.
He has a top-five finish at the track each of the last two years and has finished in the top 10 during all three visits since 2013.
