Inside Line Promotions – ELMA, Wash. (May 2, 2016) – Seth Bergman posted a pair of top-10 finishes last weekend in his home state of Washington.
The action began on Friday at Deming Speedway in Everson, where Bergman competed in a micro sprint for the first time in 12 years.
“We just had some fun,” he said. “It was nice to get back to where it all started and reflect on everything since then. It was cool to race with some people I haven’t seen in a while.”
After battling some issues early in the night Bergman rebounded to advance from eighth to fourth place in the B Main and from 20th to 10th place in the main event.
He returned to sprint car competition on Saturday at Grays Harbor Raceway, where the claimed the 2010 track championship.
“We timed in second quick and I still wasn’t happy with that,” he said. “I felt like we left a lot on the table. In the heat race I was in the right spot and the outside lane was where you wanted to be. I got a couple of cars and ran second.”
Bergman’s maneuver from fourth to second place in his heat race locked him into the feature inversion, which was an eight. That lined him up on the inside of the fourth row for the main event.
“We were worse in the feature than we’d been all night,” he said. “That was probably one of the worst nights of the year. The track was heavy and the race car was too tight to get around there.”
Bergman battled for a top five throughout the main event before he ended seventh.
Next up the team will make the approximate 30-hour drive from the Northwest to the Midwest to compete on Thursday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., for the McCarthy Auto Group KC Klassic with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour. It will mark Bergman’s debut at the track.
He is also scheduled to race on Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., with the ASCS Red River Region and ASCS Warrior Region.
