Inside Line Promotions – SEDALIA, Mo. (April 20, 2016) – Seth Bergman is returning home for a short stint after scoring a pair of solid results in the Midwest last weekend.
The Washington State native is scheduled to compete in a micro sprint this Friday at Deming Speedway in Everson, Wash., before tackling the season opener at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash., on Saturday in his sprint car.
“It’s always great to get back where I grew up and race in front of family and friends,” he said. “We have some downtime in the Midwest the next couple of weeks so we thought it’d be a great time to return to Washington.”
Bergman is coming off a pair of top 10s last weekend, which began on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa. Bergman qualified 16th quickest and he advanced from third to second place in a heat race to lock into the 16th starting position for the main event.
“It’s important to get as many laps at Knoxville as you can before the Knoxville Nationals this summer,” he said. “We had a good car in the feature and moved forward. It was a good night to get better dialed in at Knoxville and add to our notebook.”
Bergman charged from 16th to eighth in the main event, which was the second-most cars passed by any driver.
The weekend concluded on Sunday at Missouri State Fair Speedway with the ASCS Warrior Region. Bergman rallied from eighth to fourth place in a heat race, which earned him enough points to make the feature redraw. Unfortunately, Bergman pulled the second-highest number – seven – in the random draw to line up on the inside of the fourth row for the main event.
“Track position was key on a track that was rubber down,” he said. “We did our best to maneuver to the front and save our tires. After we got to second I had to go into conserve-mode just to make it to the finish. I’m not sure we could have made another couple of laps on those tires.”
Bergman finished with a runner-up result, which marked his seventh top five of the season.
