Inside Line Promotions – OWASSO, Okla. (March 23, 2016) – The 8th annual Eagle Motorsports Rock ‘N Roll 50 Presented by MyRacePass is one of the toughest races on the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour schedule each year.
Not only is it the longest race at 50 laps, but the marquee event at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark., on April 2 pits a tough regional contingent against the stars of the ASCS National Tour.
“That area of the country features a great group of drivers who are used to a tricky track like Riverside International Speedway, which can change dramatically throughout an A Main,” TBJ Promotions Founder Tony Bruce Jr. said. “I think the statistics show that the ASCS National Tour drivers have their hands full during the Eagle Motorsports Rock ‘N Roll 50 Presented by MyRacePass and that’s what the fans love to see.”
Arkansas native Tim Crawley has won the event twice with fellow local Derek Hagar scoring his first career ASCS National Tour win during the 2014 edition.
“There’s a lot of stiff competition around here,” Hagar said. “There are a lot of guys who are used to racing on that type of track so it plays into our advantage. It’s always nice to keep that money and that trophy in our backyard.”
This year’s trophy is a custom Budweiser themed guitar, which a number of ASCS National Tour drivers want to take on the road with them.
Seth Bergman, who hails from Washington State, is the only current national driver to win the event. He garnered his first career ASCS National victory during the Eagle Motorsports Rock ‘N Roll 50 Presented by MyRacePass in 2012 and he charged from 12th to win last year’s race to tie Crawley in the win’s column.
“It’s a challenge in itself,” he said. “The track changes a lot from Lap 1 to Lap 50. Your race car has to be good at the end. It’s tricky getting it good for all 50 laps. Mentally you have to stay sharp for 50 laps and preserve yourself for the last 15 laps to make good decisions. When you go to that area where the local competition is so tough, those race teams take a lot of pride in that track and that race so that’s another challenge. I feel confident and good about being the only guy following the national deal that’s been able to win there not once but twice.”
Additionally, TBJ Promotions elected to make the event an all sprint car show. The support class will be 305ci winged sprint cars competing in a $750-to-win, $75-to-start main event.
“This is for the fans who love sprint cars and great racing,” Bruce Jr. said. “We wanted to give them only sprint cars for one night. I think the fans will be in for two great races.”
Tickets for the event are discounted 20 percent if purchased before the race at http://www.TBJPromotions.com. Print a receipt and bring it to the ticket gate on the day of the event.
