Inside Line Promotions – GREENWOOD, Neb. (Sept. 21, 2015) – Seth Bergman captured a pair of top-five finishes on Saturday during the Casey’s General Store Midwest Fall Brawl IV.
Bergman’s results during the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour doubleheader, which was consolidated to one night after Friday rained out, give him 32 top fives this season.
“I felt like it was just another weekend,” he said. “We got out of there in one piece, survived and moved on. I’d like to win every race, but realistically I know that’s not possible. As long as you’re going forward and putting podium finishes together you’re setting yourself up to win.”
The event began with Bergman finishing second in a heat race, which lined him up on the outside of the fifth row for the first of twin features on the high-banked track.
“We had a really good first start of the main event,” he said. “I just rolled the wing back and sailed the middle. It stuck and we got up to fifth, but a caution came out. Everyone went where I was on the next start. I think people saw you could utilize the middle on the start. I didn’t get quite as good of a start the second time and I actually lost a couple of spots. Then I started searching around and I found a part of the track that nobody else had found.”
Bergman methodically maneuvered through the field to advance into third place prior to a green-white-checkered finish.
“I thought I had a shot to win, but the restart didn’t play out for us,” he said. “I made a mistake and got in the grease on the white flag lap and settled for third.”
That lined Bergman up 10th for the second feature following a 12-car inversion.
“The track started taking rubber in the first one,” he said. “They ran a bunch of stuff in between. When we went out it was rubber down from the drop of the green. The first two laps is when I got everybody. It seemed like people weren’t where they needed to be so I got those cars in the beginning. It started laying rubber right through the middle.”
Passing was a premium in the second main event, which Bergman finished with a fourth-place result.
“To get to fourth on a race track that was rubber, I’m all right with it,” he said. “There’s not much you can do in the situation. To pass the cars we did given the conditions was good.”
Bergman will return to action this Friday and Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., for the 5th annual Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
