For the second time in 2015, Seth Bergman found the top of the podium with the ASCS National Tour, adding the Eagle Nationals presented by TBJ Promotions to his resume. When all was said and done on Saturday night, there were very few drivers on the lead lap, as Bergman lapped all the way to fifth in his EAGLE on his way to his first Eagle Nationals triumph.
Mark Dobmeier put his Grinch prepped Eagle on the top of the box at Husets Speedway. The five-time track champ timed in sixth quick before moving from fifth to third in his Heat. That set him up inside row three for the main event. “The track was heavy, but it started to loosen up and get a couple of lanes for the feature,” says Mark. “It was a good racy track. We started fifth beside Tim Kaeding, a fellow Eagle driver, and we knew it would be a good battle. He got the good line on the outside and got up to the front first. We tried some things going in, and they worked,” he says. “I could just throw it in on the top and fly around the cushion. I don’t know if anyone had anything for us at that point.”
There are not many tracks on the Patriot Sprint Tour where Bryan Howland has not won a feature at in his career, and Friday Night at Raceway 7, in the first PST event this season at a track where the No. 51 had never graced Victory Lane, he knocked another track off the shrinking list in his new EAGLE car. Howland, 28, the 4-time PST Champion, led all 25-laps from the outside pole to claim his second win of the year, his 28th in his Patriot Sprint Tour Career. In the seventh Patriot event of the year, Howland became the first driver to lead more than 20 laps in the feature, leading wire-to-wire in a commanding performance.
A miscue by race leader, and fellow HENCHCRAFT driver, Jared Gundersen was all Tyson Cross needed to return to victory lane at Deming Speedway. One week after having his race night end early due to a large methanol fire on his car, Cross jumped to the lead when Gundersen faltered off the bottom of turn four on lap 16. Cross, who had been hunting Gundersen amongst slower cars, powered around the outside to grab the lead and quickly put enough distance between himself and the field to take the win.
Johnny Kent drove his EAGLE to a Champ Sprint win at Creek County Speedway Saturday night. Great job by all!
EMi's own, Frank Galusha, topped the field at Fairbury for win #2 of the season in his new STALLARD Chassis. A night after thrusting forward and being denied the win by a single spot Frank rebounded the next night at Jefferson County Speedway to take the win.
