Inside Line Promotions – ABILENE, Texas (April 28, 2014) – Seth Bergman has a great track record at Outlaw Motorsports Park and Riverside International Speedway.
Bergman claimed his inaugural race at Outlaw Motorsports Park in Wainwright, Okla., last season and he picked up his first career Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour triumph during the series’ last visit at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark., in 2012.
Ranked ninth in the championship standings – only 41 points out of the lead – Bergman will look to make up ground this weekend as the premier 360ci sprint car tour competes on Friday at Outlaw Motorsports Park and on Saturday at Riverside International Speedway for the Eagle Motorsports Rock ‘N Roll 50 Presented by MyRacePass.
“I just want to win,” he said. “It’s the same as every weekend. Now that I didn’t win a race last weekend I feel like we’re behind the eight ball.”
Bergman recorded his fifth top five in his last seven races last Saturday at Abilene Speedway in Abilene, Texas. However, he also had his first DNF of the season on Friday at Lubbock Speedway in Lubbock, Texas, during the ASCS Lone Star Region doubleheader.
The weekend began with Bergman charging from sixth to a runner-up finish in his heat race at Lubbock Speedway.
“I mainly got them on the start,” he said. “I think I was in second before we completed the first lap. That put us in the redraw and then I drew outside front row for the feature.”
Unfortunately, mechanical issues forced Bergman to the pits on the opening lap of the feature and he was credited with a 19th-place result.
The team headed to Abilene Speedway on Saturday and Bergman won his third heat race of the season after starting on the outside of the front row. That gave him enough points to advance into the feature redraw and he pulled the No. 3 to start the main event on the inside of the second row.
“I was average,” he said. “I didn’t go far enough with my race car. If I were to go back again I’d make the race car tighter. I got caught a little free.”
Bergman battled within the top five for the entire race and he was in a three-car battle for a spot on the podium in the closing laps.
“I was racing for second and third at the end of the race and I just didn’t have enough to get around them,” he said. “I was maybe good enough to run second, but I just couldn’t get it done.”
Bergman’s fourth-place finish was his sixth top five of the season
